The total number of reported outbreaks in the H5N8 outbreak event is sixty two: eighteen outbreaks in commercial chickens, two outbreaks in commercial ducks, twelve outbreaks in commercial ostrich, sixteen outbreaks in wild birds, eight outbreaks in birds that were kept as a hobby and six outbreaks in backyard poultry.
The AI task team of the Poultry Group submitted a discussion document on AI vaccination for DAFF to consider on the 29th of August. Since then it has not been possible to meet with DAFF officials, largely because most of the poultry vets were in Edinburgh for the WVPA Congress.
Dr Marie Oosthuizen joined EW Nutrition South Africa to Spain in May 2017. EWN offers solutions to the animal nutrition market, producing additives and supplements that assist in economic and sustainable developments of production systems.
Ceva Poultry Vaccinology Summit 2017 was held from April 24th to 26th setting new disease control solutions and innovations. Drs Marie Oosthuizen, Henry Aitchison joined Ceva South Africa to attend this summit.
